What a fantastic way to start the Wairarapa Gravel Series. 118 riders started off in two waves.

It was awesome to see seasoned riders and those new to gravel riding take place in a cool and relatively dry day. While ridden primarily on gravel roads, the roads themselves were hard and fast as seen by the first of the two-lappers covering the 94 km in approximately 2 h 40 m for an average speed approaching 35 kmh.

A special thanks to:

  • Mauriceville School for opening up their hall and field to us.

  • Cycling Tom for the bicycle maintenance area.

  • The Coffee Ride for refreshments before and after the ride.

  • Wellington Free Ambulance for their presence.

  • The course marshalls and volunteers that make events like this happen.
