The Wairarapa Backyard Ultra, a true test of grit and determination, unfolds against the picturesque backdrop of Masterton's natural beauty. Each demanding lap of this unique race offers a blend of tranquil riverside paths, scenic lakeside vistas, and the ever-present challenge of the Wairarapa elements.
Starting Point: Colin Pugh Sports Bowl
The journey for each athlete begins at the heart of the action, the Colin Pugh Sports Bowl. From this central hub, runners embark on a course that quickly immerses them in the region's serene landscape. The initial stretch guides participants alongside the meandering Waipoua River, its gentle flow a calming contrast to the internal struggle that will surely unfold over the hours.
