Race Report – 4 November 025 ACM Matahiwi ITT

The weather Gods finally took pity on the ACM cyclists and turned on a beautiful Wairarapa evening. Warm and sunny with only a persistent nor’easterly wind to contend with

Twenty riders presented themselves to the start line for the first Individual Time Trial of the season. The Matahiwi course is a mere 15.25 kms in length but contains one short sharp ramp at the 3km mark with the remainder being a false flat all the way to the turn around. The easterly wind didn’t help providing no assistance on any section of the parcours. Being a short course riders settle on a very high pace and hope they can hold this till the finish line

Riders were set off at 30 second intervals to do the best they could. Fastest on the night was Dave Drummond with who cracked 40kph. Well done to all the other competitors and to Belinda Fuller as the only woman lining up to race
