Millers Road GRR Feb 2026

Race Report – 10 February Millars Road GRR

The evening was hot and sunny for the nights graded road race around the 29 kilometre Millars Road circuit. There were 18 riders who presented themselves to the start line, split into A, B and C grades. Starts were at 1 minute intervals. A & B did two laps with the C grade completing one. The only obstacles out on course were a patch of gravel near the Gladstone pub and a half hearted westerly that provided mostly a crosswind but some assistance going up and over Millars road

In C grade the four riders stayed together until hitting the lower slopes of the Millars road climb when one by one they were dropped from the group. This left a recent demotee from the B grade to power over the top by himself and time trial to the finish line for a rare win

By lap 2 the B grade was well strung out and split into individual riders making the best progress they could. Nigel Page and Eric D’Arbois crossed the line together with Nigel taking the flag. Belinda was the third rider in and also the fastest woman on the course

The A grade had a small group in the lead by the 2^nd lap. Unfortunately for them they also had Nick On with them. As the road climbed away from the Ruamahanga bridge Nick took off towards Millars road leaving the remaining riders trailing in his wake and taking a handsome win with over 2 minutes in hand
