Race Report – 9 November 2025 Club Road Race Champs
Tonight was the club road race champs starting on Te Ore Ore road and finishing on Blackrock Road. Only 16 riders fronted up to what used to be the highlight of the club racing calendar. Still, it was a beautiful evening and the parcours took the riders up to Bideford and back so a very scenic ride if you were able to look up and take it in
There were two groups, M6 and above did the short course turning at Stoddards road with the Open riders turning at Bideford school
The Bideford road is very pleasant and, as mentioned above, very scenic. However, with two small groups and a number of undulations to get up and over most of the riders would have been head down bum up trying to hang on to the wheel in front of them
Open were off first with 9 riders on the line. One subsequently DNF’d and it was a group of 4 that hit the bottom of the climb on Blackrock road that lead to the finish line. Nick On made a break up the climb and managed to take 17 seconds on Rich Van Lent in 2nd place. Well done that man
The M6 and overs set off a minute after Open and stayed in a bunch until the first climb on the Bideford road. Three riders, Ricky Blade, Stephen Brown & Andy CC pulled away on the climb with Stephen & Ricky breaking away on the subsequent climb. That was pretty much the order of things to the finish with Stephen pipping Ricky by 2 seconds to take the win
The evening finished off with a BBQ and beverages back at the ACM clubhouse

A big thanks to all the volunteers for marshaling, time keeping and signage. We would not be able to race without you guys doing these jobs and it is very much appreciated. Thanks also to Ricky Blade and Eastwoods for the BBQ and to Diane for doing the cooking
Racing will recommence in the New Year. Have a very enjoyable Xmas, stay safe on the roads and see you all in January 2026
