Hope Gibbons 40 km Team Time Trial - South Featherston Circuit

The 2025 Hope Gibbons event (Wellington Centre) was supported by 40 riders across 11 teams.

After the truly awful weather experienced in the lead up to this event, the day dawned fine and clear with a slowly increasing southerly wind to challenge the riders on the open course.

The circuit is 10 km long in a rectangular configuration consisting of 2 x 3 km straight sections and 2 x 2 km straight sections on typical Wairarapa rural roads. With a change from the traditional westerly/northwester wind, the southerly posed a different challenge with the downhill section now being into the wind and the uphill drag being wind assisted (to some point). There was nowhere to hide today.

Riders presented themselves into 6 categories today.  The competition for the Hope Gibbons Shield (Open) and xxx Cup (Women’s) was supplemented with entries entries for School (2 laps – 20 km), Schools open, and Mixed Teams. One rider also completed the course as a solo.
